Aluminum Sulfate

With chemical formula Al2(SO4)3, this substance appears as a transparent liquid or a white crystalline solid, soluble in water.

Currently, the high-purity aluminum sulphate is produced by reaction of sulfuric acid with aluminum hydroxide . In the past it was used as the aluminum source but bauxite aluminum sulphate thus produced had high levels of impurities.

It is widely employed as a flocculant in water as sizing agent in papermaking and as additives for special concretes . It also has an important range of small use in the manufacture of materials for the construction , agriculture and industry as processing aids .
