Water Treatment

For Bondalti, the growth that makes sense is one based on ambition and innovative spirit, which reaffirms values and multiplies skills. For this reason, during its expansion cycle, the company chose a path that is compatible with its area of expertise: Water Treatment.

Water treatment solutions are a new area with great complementarity in relation to the company’s activity in industrial chemicals, namely the production of chlorine and its derivatives.

This business area also reflects a long-term commitment to an activity sector aligned with the major global trends in sustainable development, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals regarding the efficient use, supply and access to drinking water (SDG 6) and ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns (SDG 11), among several others where the topic of "water" is concerned.

The first step of this growth was taken in 2020, with the acquisition of a majority shareholding in Enkrott - Gestão e Tratamento de Águas, a leading company in water management and treatment for human and industrial consumption in Portugal, with operations also in Spain and Angola, and exports to various international clients. Operating since 1961, it produces and exports its water treatment technologies and equipment to clients in all regions of the world, from Portugal to Australia, and is one of the sector leaders in Portugal and Angola.

In 2021, Bondalti acquired the Spanish group Aguas Alfaro, one of the main local operators in the wastewater treatment and industrial process segment, reinforcing its focus on business diversification and its operations in Spain. The Aguas Alfaro Group, which includes the companies Aguas Rioja, Agua Energía y Medioambiente (AEMA) and Laboratorios Alfaro, began its activity in 1994, and is recognised by its trademark AEMA.
