Bondalti at Smart Chemistry
Bondalti will be participating in Smart Chemistry, in Barcelona, from 14 to 17 September, a celebration of innovation in chemistry and the role of the sector in sustainable development.
The aim of the third Smart Chemistry Smart Future event is to highlight the strategic nature of innovation in chemistry in forging a path towards a sustainable future, responding to major global challenges and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) established by the UN for 2030. Also, it will focus on the essential contribution of the chemicals sector to the economy, through the generation of wealth and employment, leadership in R&D+I investment and its capacity for internationalisation and ability to attract investors.
The largest Portuguese company in the chemicals sector, Bondalti is also the largest Iberian chlor-alkali producer and one of the world’s key non-integrated producers of aniline, and leader of sales in Europe. As a result, it is participating in this international event with its own space, in which the company’s commitment to sustainable development will be on show.
“At Bondalti, we are committed to contributing towards an economy with zero impact on climate, supporting our efforts on innovation both as we proceed towards the decarbonisation of our own processes and seek next-generation products that enable a more sustainable future for all”, explains André de Albuquerque, executive director of Bondalti, who stresses: “The chemical industry has a hand in 98% of the products we use every day, so it is natural that it is one of the sectors that will be part of the solution to the planet’s challenges”.
Bondalti is in the process of implementing its Climate Transition Programme, which envisages the achievement of the specific objectives to be attained by 2030 and revolves around four strategic “M”s: Maximising the use of more sustainable and reusable energy and raw materials; Minimising carbon emissions and water and energy consumption; Mitigating environmental impacts, offsetting CO2 emissions and protecting the local environment; and Mobilising employees and the community in this process.
In addition to the message of change that it will be conveying in its Smart Chemistry space, Bondalti will also be in the exhibition area of the fair with Wave, an innovative data acquisition, cloud storage and real time monitoring system developed by Enkrott, its affiliate in the area of Water Treatment, a sector that represents one of the business areas that supports the company’s strategic growth.
On the 16th, Bondalti will also be participating in two smart talks: Teresa Marques (Deputy Director of Planning, Integrated Production and Energy) and Rosa Calinas (Coordinator of Human Resources at the Estarreja site), will speak, respectively, about energy transition and the importance of people in the talks “Bondalti and the energy transition” and “It’s all about our people”. The event is scheduled to take place between 4 PM and 5 PM local time, both for those guests and media attending the fair and for all other interested parties via streaming.
The Smart Chemistry Smart Future event is promoted by the Spanish Chemical Industry Business Federation (FEIQUE), which describes it as “an encounter with disruptive chemical technologies that will change the future”.
