Volunteer Day 2019 against food waste
This year's edition of the José de Mello Group Volunteering Program aimed to contribute to the Restolho Project, to fight food waste.
Volunteers from Bondalti and other platforms of the José de Mello Group were at Agromais, Golegã, collecting potatoes with no commercial value and, therefore, left behind by the farmers. The harvest of this “stubble” or “scribble” is then distributed to charities, in an action to fight food waste that aims to support those who need it most. By the end, the more than 100 volunteers had collected 3.5 tons of potatoes.
Luís Wissman, Bondalti / José de Mello Human Resources Director, said in this regard that the Group's Volunteer Program “has already made a significant journey” and that “the degree of satisfaction of all involved, whether both volunteers and partner organizations, acknowledges its success”.
