Climate Transition

Carbon Neutrality by 2030

Bondalti’s Purpose inspires us: To contribute to a better world through creating innovative and sustainable chemistry. However, as well as inspiring, this Purpose is also a clear challenge to the whole organisation. A challenge that reaches out to each and every one of us. How can we leave future generations a better world through sustainable chemistry? One of the answers to this question is Bondalti’s commitment to Climate Transition. The primary goal is to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030. In other words, making all Bondalti sites and operations, and its entire supply chain, neutral in terms of CO2. emissions.

We believe in chemistry that brings people together and that unites people with nature. This chemistry is also present in water treatment operations and power generation.

Therefore, to achieve this objective of Carbon Neutrality, Bondalti continuously studies all possible mechanisms available. And we have no doubt that the best strategy is one that collates a diverse set of solutions and tools at the following levels:

  • Technological innovation and digitisation
  • Reduced consumption and increased efficiency
  • Decarbonisation of energy sources
  • Carbon sequestration and storage
  • Carbon off-setting using nature-based solutions
  • Development of partnerships for sustainability and climate action innovation
  • Due diligence at the value and supply chain level to reduce level 3 emissions and align partners and suppliers with the decarbonisation strategy and compliance with the goals set out in the Paris Agreement
  • Reporting and Compliance in accordance with applicable EU regulations and international best practice on ESG disclosure
  • Financial mechanisms to support mitigation projects, leverage investment, review financing conditions and debt restructuring
  • Involvement of all stakeholders to gain scale and raise awareness of individual contributions

This commitment by Bondalti is in line with the European Union’s goal of achieving a 55% reduction in carbon emissions according to the base year enshrined in the Paris Agreement by 2030. This represents a key intermediate target in trying to achieve Climate Neutrality by 2050.

Given this, Bondalti’s Climate Transition Strategy goes far beyond achieving a neutral carbon balance by 2030. Our goal also includes all aspects related to the carbon and ecological footprint of our activities and their direct and indirect impacts. We aim to develop specific programmes for sustainable innovation to develop lower carbon intensity products, for circularity throughout our value chain, to minimise our water footprint and to promote and enhance biodiversity and natural capital. We have adopted a wide-ranging approach, promoting strategic partnerships and the involvement of various stakeholders to raise awareness among all significant players, and apply beneficial solutions for all at a larger scale.
